NATIONAL DAIQUIRI DAY: WILD STRAWBERRY

Strawberry, Strawberry, Strawberry Daiquiris
National Daiquiri Day 2022 is here and we’ll take any opportunity to showcase the iconic cocktail using our own Smoked Spiced Rum.
As far as we know, the original daiquiri recipe dates back to 1890s Cuba, where American engineer Jennings Stockton Cox was credited with its invention. The cocktail, which is a mix of lime, sugar and rum, became iconic in the early 1900s when novelist Ernest Hemingway sank many glasses of his version at the Floridita bar in Havana. It’s crisp, balanced and fantastically simple, making it the ideal cocktail to refresh you on a hot, sticky day.
For our version, we’ve decided to do a playful twist on the classic recipe, adding some fresh strawberries picked straight from our distillery garden in the summer sun.
To make a single serving of this cocktail you will need:
- 50ml Smoked Spiced Rum
- 20ml lime juice
- 15ml simple syrup
- Handful of wild strawberries (2-4 per glass)
Combine wild strawberries and simple syrup in a glass and muddle, then pour in the rum and lime juice and mix. Add ice and shake hard until chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a wild strawberry and an edible flower.
